Picture description in Slovak — practice for the oral part of the A2 exam

Examination centres describe picture description as one of the tasks in the oral part of the Slovak A2 exam. Practise it here and get AI feedback showing what your description is missing.

Pick a picture and start speaking — your description is assessed by AI:

What the picture task looks like

The oral part of the Slovak A2 exam has no published model test. Examination centres describe it consistently, though: a communicative situation plus a picture description. The exact wording therefore differs from centre to centre, and what you practise here is a reconstruction of the format, not an official task.

The Ministry’s specification of skills speaks of using "a series of phrases and sentences to give a simple description of family and other people, living conditions, education and work". That is exactly what a picture description asks of you: who is in the picture, what they are doing, where they are and how it comes across.

At A2 nobody expects complex speech. What is expected is full sentences instead of bare words, prepositions of place (na, v, pri, vedľa, vľavo, vpravo, v pozadí), concrete details instead of the general topic — and that you keep going even when one word escapes you.

How this practice works

You can type your answer or record it — the recording is transcribed. An AI system then assesses it: you get points, a list of mistakes and a model answer, so you can see not only how much but what for.

Our rubric is out of 27 points across four areas: task completion, grammar, vocabulary and fluency. It is our practice scale, not the exam’s — the real exam is passed with at least 70 % of the total points across the written and the oral part together, and the certificate carries a single grade word. The FAQ has the detail.

Common questions

Is this an actual exam task?

No. The oral part has no published model test, so these are original tasks built from how the centres describe the exam and from the Ministry’s specification of skills. They are for rehearsing the format, not an official paper.

How long should I speak?

No single duration is published and centres differ. Aim at what A2 actually requires: a few connected sentences covering every point of the task. A shorter but complete answer beats a long one that leaves half the points out.

Does the AI feedback replace the exam?

No. It is a practice aid that shows you what is missing from your answer. The exam is administered, and the certificate issued, by a language school — not by us.
